Morning brings the first ignition. Helmets click; engines purr low and steady. A short transfer over the Maloja Pass and the horizon unbuttons. The guide raises a hand, and then you are moving, smooth, confident, following a bright line through the quiet. Snow lifts in silver veils behind you; the valley trades its map for a living landscape.
